Terms of Service

The short version. Be 18 or over. Be honest about who you are and whose dog that is. Treat other people and their animals decently. Meeting strangers carries risk and you take responsibility for your own safety and your dog's behaviour. Break the rules and we can remove your account.
1. Agreement
By creating an account you agree to these terms. Barknity is run by Mohammed Zekri, based in Spain. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the service.
2. You must be 18 or over
Barknity is for adults. You confirm you are at least 18 when you sign up. We refuse accounts under 18 and delete any we find.
2a. Child safety and zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation
Barknity has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Child sexual abuse material, sexualised depictions of minors, grooming, solicitation of minors, and any attempt to use Barknity to contact or exploit a child are absolutely prohibited.
Anyone found doing any of this has their account removed permanently and without warning, and we report to law enforcement and the relevant child protection authorities. Removing an account does not end the matter: we preserve what the law requires us to preserve for those reports.
We also refuse and delete accounts belonging to anyone under 18, whether we find them ourselves or they are reported to us.
How to report. You can report anyone from inside the app: tap the flag on their card in Discover, press and hold them in Matches, or, in a walk chat, open the list of people going and tap the flag next to them. Reports of this kind are treated as urgent. You can also email us directly at barknity@gmail.com, which is our contact point for child safety matters. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to the authorities in your own country. Most countries have a national police unit or a dedicated hotline for this, and you do not need to go through us first.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information. Your photos must be of you, and your dog's photos must be of your dog.
- One account per person.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Confirm your email address. We use it for password resets and important notices.
4. How to behave
Do not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk or abuse anyone
- Post nudity, sexual content, violence, or anything illegal
- Impersonate anyone, or use photos that are not yours
- Use Barknity to advertise, sell, recruit, or run a business
- Sell, breed, rehome or trade animals through the service
- Share anyone else's private information, including their location
- Try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service
- Use the service if you have previously been removed from it
Zero tolerance. Barknity has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the person who posted it, or who abused someone, is suspended or removed from Barknity.
5. Meeting people, and your safety
Please read this part properly. Barknity introduces you to strangers. We do not run background checks, verify identity beyond an email address, or vet anyone. We cannot know who you are actually meeting.
- Meet in public places, in daylight, at least the first time.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Only share your live location with someone you have chosen to trust, and stop it when you no longer need it.
- You can end a meeting at any time, for any reason, without explaining yourself.
- Report anyone who behaves badly: tap the flag on their card in Discover, press and hold them in Matches, or use the flag next to them in a walk chat's list of people going.
You meet other users at your own risk. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for what happens when you meet.
6. Your dog
- You are responsible for your dog's behaviour at all times, including any injury or damage they cause.
- Follow the laws where you are on leads, muzzles, vaccination and restricted breeds. These differ from country to country, and in some places certain breeds need a licence, a muzzle in public, or insurance. Checking what applies to you is your responsibility.
- Do not bring a dog that is unwell, unvaccinated, or in season to a group walk.
- Tell people honestly if your dog is reactive or needs space. Everyone has a better time when they know.
Vaccination and neutering details on a profile are what the owner has stated. We do not verify them. Satisfy yourself before letting dogs meet.
7. Walks
Walks are organised by users, not by us. The organiser decides the place, time and who can join. We do not supervise, insure or attend them. Joining one is your decision and your risk.
8. Your content
Your photos and words remain yours. You give us permission to store and display them within Barknity so the service can work. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
Only upload content you have the right to upload.
9. Moderation
We may review photos, and we review every report, aiming to act within 24 hours. We can remove content and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a way to respond — but we may act immediately where there is a risk to someone's safety.
10. Advertising and paid features
Barknity is free to use and is paid for by advertising. The app shows ads served by Google AdMob and promotions from businesses we work with directly. An ad or promotion is not a recommendation from us: we do not check the products or services advertised, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them.
When you reach the swipe limit, you may be offered a short video in exchange for extra swipes. The offer depends on an ad being available and is limited to once per swipe period. Extra swipes have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
Do not click, view or interact with ads dishonestly, for example with scripts or by repeatedly tapping them, and do not try to get extra swipes in any other way than genuinely watching a video. Accounts that do this may be suspended.
If we introduce paid features later, we will describe the price and terms clearly before you buy anything, and purchases will be handled by Google Play or the App Store, under their refund rules.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete my account, or from the web form. Deletion is permanent.
We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms, or if we stop running the service. If we shut Barknity down, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
12. The service is provided as it is
We work to keep Barknity running, but we do not promise it will always be available, fault-free, or that you will meet anyone. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
13. Law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Barknity afterwards means you accept the new terms.
